DIY CHRISTMAS GIFT: CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

In the mood for: Rajaton - Dobbin's Flowery Vale

Merry Christmas, may it be full of happiness and peace!
Valoisaa Joulua, rauhaa ja iloa kaikille!

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES WITH MILK CHOCOLATE TOPPING
Recipe in Finnish below

Makes about 15 big cookies or 25 smaller cookies

INGREDIENTS
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
0,75 dl caster (superfine) sugar
0,5 dl (35 g) dark brown muscovado sugar
2 tsp vanilla sugar
100 g butter, room temperature
1 egg
2 dl all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 dl (75 g) milk chocolate chips
1 dl (75 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the topping: 200 g milk chocolate

DIRECTIONS
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Preheat oven to 180° (350°F). In a large bowl, mix together caster sugar,
muscovado sugar and vanilla sugar with your fingers. Beat the butter with sugars until creamy. Add the egg and whisk gently until smooth. Combine all-purpose flour, baking powder and salt, add gradually to the egg mixture, stir gently. Stir in the chocolate chips. Make cookies: Drop tablespoonfuls (or if you prefer smaller cookies, use a teaspoon) of the mixture on to the baking sheet lined with parchment paper but remember to leave enough space between the cookies as they will get bigger during the baking. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the cookies are golden around the edges but still soft in the centre. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack.

MILK CHOCOLATE TOPPING

Melt the milk chocolate in a heat proof pan over a simmering water, let cool a bit. Fill the piping bag with the melted milk chocolate (cover the tip with your finger to prevent the chocolate from flowing out of the piping bag). Using a round tip, draw a half circle on to the surface of the cookie and pipe the centre of the half circle with milk chocolate. If you want the milk chocolate surface to be smoother, shake the cookie gently to set the topping. Set aside and pipe the other cookies as well. Let the milk chocolate topping set in a cool and dry place before eating.

DIY CHRISTMAS GIFT: CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Note that these cookies are just chocolate chip cookies, without the milk chocolate topping! So that they are easier and faster to make. But of course, if you just love baking, you can make these cookies with the milk chocolate topping and give them as a Christmas gift to your friends and family.

I put the ingredients on to a jar in three little plastic bags and decorated the jar with branches of spruce and strings.

Fill the plastic bags:

PLASTIC BAG NO. 1
caster sugar
dark brown muscovado sugar
vanilla sugar

PLASTIC BAG NO. 2
all-purpose flour
salt
baking powder

PLASTIC BAG NO. 3
semi-sweet chocolate chips
milk chocolate chips

Mix the ingredients in the plastic bags and close the bags (squeeze all the air out). Make sure to close the plastic bag No. 1 tightly, otherwise the muscovado sugar can get pretty hard. Put the plastic bags on to the jar: First plastic bag No. 3, then plastic bag No. 2 and finally plastic bag No. 1. Add 1 egg and close the jar. Decorate and give away with a huge smile and directions:

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

DIRECTIONS
1 jar of Chocolate chip cookies- mixture
100 g butter, room temperature

Preheat oven to 180° (350°F). Beat the butter with the ingredients in the plastic bag No.1. Whisk in the egg. Add gradually the ingredients in the plastic bag No. 2, stir until combined. Stir in the chocolate chips in the plastic bag No. 3 and make cookies by dropping tablespoonfuls (for smaller cookies, use a teaspoon) of the mixture on to the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Remember to leave space between the cookies as they will get bigger during the baking. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are golden around the edges but still gooey in the centre. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack and enjoy!

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES MAITOSUKLAAKUORRUTTEELLA

Noin 15 isoa tai 25 pientä keksiä

AINEKSET
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
0,75 dl erikoishienoa sokeria
0,5 dl (35 g) tummaa muscovadosokeria
2 tl vaniljasokeria
100 g huoneenlämpöistä voita
1 kananmuna
2 dl puolikarkeita vehnäjauhoja
1 tl leivinjauhetta
½ tl suolaa
1 dl (75 g) maitosuklaahippuja
1 dl (75 g) tummia suklaahippuja
Kuorrutus: 200 g maitosuklaata

OHJEET
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

MAITOSUKLAAKUORRUTE

Sulata maitosuklaa vesihauteessa ja anna seoksen jäähtyä hieman. Täytä pursotinpussi valuvalla suklaalla (paina sormesi tyllan kärkeen estääksesi maitosuklaata valumasta) ja piirrä keksin päälle puoliympyrä pyöreän tyllan avulla. Täytä puoliympyrä suklaalla. Jos haluat maitosuklaakuorrutteesta sileämmän, heiluta keksiä hellävaroen, mutta nopeasti vaakatasossa, jolloin maitosuklaakuorrute tulee sileämmäksi eikä pursotusjälki erotu. Kuorruta myös muut keksit. Anna suklaakuorrutteen jähmettyä viileässä ja kuivassa paikassa ennen syömistä.

DIY JOULULAHJA: CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

PUSSI NO. 1
erikoishieno sokeri
tumma muscovadosokeri
vaniljasokeri

PUSSI NO. 2
vehnäjauhot
suola
leivinjauhe

PUSSI NO. 3
suklaahiput
